Allen is a city in the state of Texas, which is also a northern suburb of the City of Dallas. According to the 2010 census, the City of Allen boasts of a population of more than 84,200. The very first Europeans arrived in the region in the 1840s. The city was founded by the Houston & Central Texas Railroad. It was named in honor of Ebenezer Allen, who was a local politician and railroad promoter. The arrival of the railroad in the City of Allen enabled the sale of crops all across the nation before they rotted. Between 1908 and 1948, Allen became a key stop along the Texas Traction Company’s Interurban lines from Denison to Dallas. The City of Allen was officially incorporated in the year 1953, with a population of a few hundred. Ever since then, this Texas city has experienced tremendous growth, mainly thanks to the building of the US Route 75 and the construction of the Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport.
